How it all started
Childreamers Daycare Cencer (CDCD) is located in one of the poorest areas in Manila, Philippines, where small children are often left unattended or in the care of young siblings. They lack adequate care, nutrition, security, safety and a stimulating environment in the home and outside.
In Tondo are public schools but no public kindergartens (tbc). Lack of quality day-care services with a holistic focus on health and education impacts children and their communities negatively.
To address these challenges, in Feb 2014, the CDCD was born out of a vision, a partnership between Remy and one of her guests who believed in her desire and sincerity in helping her community and herself. Remy has lived in the area for over 12 years, most of that as a volunteer worker with different agencies attached to youth, women, livelihood and health.
It was fate that the rights to the daycare space was offered to Remy who the previous occupants knew would continue to do the good work they started in the community. Remy's heart was with children, being a single mother with 2 of her own. The Childreamers Daycare Center was established in the summer break of 2014.
With help from friends, family, previous guests along the first school year, the center was able to help 45 children graduate and be ready for Grade 1. Their enrollment also ensured their parents qualify for the 4Ps government cash grant.
Remy and the CDCD
now offers a safe and guest-friendly socio-cultural tour that might just change your perspective and directly plant a seed for our children whose only fault was to be born in a life of poverty.
